Space Coast Cultural Arts & Business Organization Charities, Inc. (SCCABO)

Our Vision: Our vision at SCCABO is to create a society where all individuals, regardless of their socioeconomic status, have equal access to opportunities to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and the world.

Our Mission: Our mission is to serve as an equitable development organization that leverages the influential forces of innovation and creativity to empower individuals and transform communities. By fostering skill development, creativity, entrepreneurship, and cultural appreciation, we aim to break down barriers and enable a future where economic empowerment is accessible to all, creating a more just and prosperous society.

Our Approach:  LOVE!  Love is the first and most fundamental element that drives the patience and creativity necessary to be an adequate servant.  SCCABO is also a proud supporters of the United Nations 17 Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Formulated as a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all,” SCCABO currently offers programming in alignment with SDGs #1 – No Poverty, #4 – Quality Education, #8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, #10 – Reduced Inequalities, and #11 –  Sustainable Cities and Communities.  Our method is Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) which empowers community residents to drive development themselves by identifying and mobilizing existing, but often unrecognized, assets.

Our History: I began this work of love and civic engagement at the age of 17. Born to teenage parents, I grew up in poverty in Jamaica Queens, N.Y., witnessing the immense despair and shattered dreams among residents, especially the vulnerable youth. Driven by a belief in my ability to make a difference, I initiated activities for youth that fostered self-esteem, instilled confidence, and offered practical ways for them to help themselves while acquiring crucial life skills.

These early successes fueled my desire to learn and do more to empower residents residing in disinvested impoverished communities, similar to the one I grew up in. I realized that I must become the change in the world that I wished to see. My inherent talent for bringing people together to create positive change could be utilized to empower communities that have historically faced disinvestment, marginalization, and endured the repercussions of government policies that hindered their efforts to rise above poverty.

The existence of Space Coast Cultural Arts & Business Organization (SCCABO) is driven by this very purpose.

Through the work of our Board, our staff, our supporters and volunteers, we are ushering in a new era of boundless possibilities as we strive to build resilient communities that are socially, culturally, and economically robust.
