Historic South Melbourne Revitalization
Our Historically significant South Melbourne community stands at a crossroads, where history, culture, and the aspirations of our residents converge. In an effort to effectively ward off gentrification and to navigate this juncture with wisdom, compassion, and our collective wisdom, SCCABO, in partnership with the South Brevard Branch NAACP created the Historic South Melbourne Community Coalition. Together, we are striving to create a vibrant, inclusive South Melbourne, preserving its history and embracing future prosperity.
Space/Science, Technology, Arts, Access for Residents (STAAR)
- An infrastructure project that will be located in Historic South Melbourne that will function as a STEM/STEAM education & workforce development center, local tech business incubator, and rental facility providing affordable meeting and banquet rental spaces to residents, businesses, and organizations.
- A catalyst project for the revitalization of Historic South Melbourne, a historically significant African American community, founded by former enslaved black men who founded what is now known as Melbourne, Florida.
