Developing Leaders

Developing Leaders (DL) Technology & Entrepreneurship Personal Improvement Program for Teens (Ages 13 - 17)

Developing Leaders (DL) is a  nine (9) week STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, & math) education, revenue producing personal improvement summer on-boarding program that has become one of our signature educational programs for teens (ages 13 – 17). It has attracted the acceptance of teens, parents, and funders. The program is infused with hands-on real life experiential learning that augment program lesson plans. The program has a successful completion rate of 98%.

Our mission is to provide relevant technology offerings that positively impacts the “digital divide.” and prepare our learners for the digital transformation of work and relevant skills for entrepreneurship.

DL increases teens access and interest in STEM and serves as a pipeline to relevant technology training, certifications, and IT fields through our Technology Launch Program, once a qualified learners reaches the age of 18.

SCCABO’s entrepreneurship education teaches learners the fundamentals necessary to start and manage a business. Learners participate in our “entrepreneurship simulation.” SCCABO’s entrepreneurship simulation is a totally integrated real life experience in operating a business. Program participants are required to do it all from marketing to production to human resource management, including time management, and complete accounting responsibility, with SCCABO having ultimate final accounting responsibility. Students learn how to respond and face new issues, decisions, and information as they organically unfold over the life-cycle of the products and the on-going changes in business.  Students also share in the revenue generated by the entrepreneurship simulation by receiving education stipends. Earned revenue is direct deposited to the student’s safe-balance checking accounts that are opened near the completion of the program. After graduation from the 9 week summer on-boarding program, graduates are allowed to stay on in the entrepreneurship simulation.

Developing Leaders currently consist of three (3) core program components:

1. Know Thy Self – Critical life skills, including effective communication, decision making, problem resolution, and teamwork are learned organically by way of the activities incorporated in the program.  Requirement of component: Students will create vision boards and learn how to start and manage a vision journal.

2. Understanding How Government Works – Students are introduced to the structure, function, and role of local government, how it effects their daily lives, how decisions are made, and the meaning of civic responsibility and the role of a citizen. Requirement of component: Students must attend at least one city council meeting, a school board budget meeting, and create one public policy.
